The True Origin of Inception: Scrooge McDuck & The Beagle Boys

by Red Beard on August 4, 2010

Videogum is reporting that Christopher Nolan actually got the idea for Inception from an old Scrooge McDuck comic. Although the cartoon is very similar in basic premise to the movie, I doubt it had much influence on Nolan. I don’t think anyone ever argued that invading people’s dreams was an original concept. But this is a funny cartoon and a great addition to the Inception conversations. The original comic was published in 2004, and Nolan says he has been working on the script for a decade, so I think we’re safe in saying it wasn’t a rip-off, but who knows.

I'm now looking through old Disney comics to see what I can exploit for the next blockbuster.
