I do not disagree with your assessments of the juvenile qualities of Holmes, but I saw this version on DVD and was pleasantly entertained by it – however, my expectations were quite low because most everyone I know who saw it in the theaters was quite underwhelmed. Sorry you were one of those who paved the way!

I think the movie was fun but I hoped for more. So if you are looking for a fun adventure film then you’ll like it. I don’t think it matters if you read the books. I haven’t. I have just seen a lot of movies and this one didn’t stand out. No matter the genre.

I have not read any of the Sherlock Holmes books. Saying that will I enjoy the movie more going into it without any expectations. Or is it just not any good regardless. I think the homosexual thing is very humorous but since I am not in the literary world I had never heard this rumor. thanks for the review I enjoyed it.
